Qu’anglo Communications & Consulting is an enterprise with a mission to provide quality consulting services for the conception and implementation of communications, training and development initiatives, specializing in the area of sustainable development for agriculture and rural communities.

Hugh Maynard

Hugh is a consulting specialist and owner of Qu’anglo Communications & Consulting, an enterprise with a focus on communications, strategic planning and development initiatives for agricultural and rural communities. A graduate in farm management from Macdonald College, McGill University, he previously worked as Executive Director of the Quebec Farmers’ Association and is an award‐winning agricultural communicator with over 25 years’ experience including presenting weekly on the “Farm Panel” for CBC‐Montreal’s Radio Noon program. Hugh is also Global Manager for the International Federation of Agricultural Journalists (IFAJ), Secretary‐Treasurer of the Canadian Farm Writer’s Federation (CFWF) and the past International Director for the Association for Communication Excellence (ACE) in agricultural, natural resource and human and life sciences.
In a community context, Hugh is past vice‐president of the Quebec Association for Lifelong Learning, and has served as a representative of numerous community organizations including school boards and a career education centre. In April 1999, he became a Fellow of LEAD Canada (Leadership in Environment and development), following completion of a two‐year professional development program. He also represented Canada as part of a 5‐country delegation from LEAD International at the United Nations Commission on Sustainable Development session on Sustainable Agriculture and Rural Development in April 2000. In 2008 he became an associate trainer with LEAD International, as well as with the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) as part of LEAD Canada’s professional development
programming.
In the course of his professional activities Hugh has traveled extensively across Canada and the U.S., as well as to South & Central America, Europe, Russia, Ukraine, China, South Korea, New Zealand, western and southern Africa.
Norma
Tolhurst

A graduate of Business Administration from John Abbott College CEGEP, complemented by a diploma in Modern Languages from Champlain College CEGEP where she also completed a marketing internship in France. Norma is active on her family’s dairy farm in Howick, Quebec, and previously worked as Office & Communications Assistant at Quebec 4‐H.
In addition to leading Qu’anglo’s office operations, Norma also coordinates the enterprise’s growing translation services as well as support for other staff in the provision of project, planning and secretariat services to agri‐food enterprises, small businesses, and non‐profit organizations.
She has a passion for photography and is mother to a three‐year
old baby girl.
Chris Maynard

Chris Maynard has been the Director of Technology for Qu’anglo Communications & Consulting since 2008. Conversant in the WordPress, Apache server deployment and Gsuite administration and support, he has considerable experience in website development and cloud computing as well as deploying social media for marketing and advertising purposes.
He has worked on a number of projects during this period including carrying out a pilot project to connect rural community radio stations in an Internet‐based network, working with youth and seniors to digitize oral history from their communities and establishing the cloud‐based computing platform to facilitate Qu’anglo’s operations as a ‘virtual’ company.
He has a BA in Music from Bishop’s University and currently resides in Compton, Quebec where he has started a direct‐to consumer organic fruit and vegetable farm in his spare time.
